"My story in Portugal begins on a sunny day in February 2011. I can still remember the last moments of that freaky flight from Tehran (Iran) to Lisbon. When the plane landed, I had no idea of what was awaiting me." Samaneh Khoshrou (UTM)

INESC TEC Supports Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering

INESC TEC is helping to organise the conference StudECE2012, organised by the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP). The main target audience is PhD students working in Electrical and Computer Engineering. The event will take place on 28th and 29th June and the organising committee has four INESC TEC researchers, all of them PhD students.

This is the first event worldwide that will bring together PhD students and researchers to promote collaboration and discussion of their high quality work that often has real potential in industry. StudECE2012 will provide the space for discussion and it will promote and encourage interaction between research groups and the scientific community.

During the conference PhD students will have the opportunity to present their work to promote the University of Porto both nationally and internationally. The invitation to attend the conference is also extended to national and foreign universities to encourage collaboration between local researchers and other schools.

The conference promotes the PhD programme in Electrical and Computer Engineering (PDEEC) at the FEUP. The organising committee is made up of six individuals, four of which are INESC TEC PhD students: Bruno Ferreira and Héber Sobreira, both from the Robotics and Intelligent Systems Unit, Clara Gouveia from the Power Systems Unit (USE) and Hélder Oliveira from the Telecommunications and Multimedia Unit (UTM).

INESC TEC will organise the awards for the event that will include a research grant and an award for the best PhD student.
