What have you been doing professionally since you left INESC TEC?
I’m currently working as an assistant professor in the Department of Engineering and Management at Instituto Superior Técnico (University of Lisbon) – an opportunity that I deeply appreciate. Besides teaching activities (which I love), I’m advancing my research in engineering and systems management, focusing on business analytics and optimisation. This balance between teaching and research has been a vital aspect of this new phase of my career, allowing me to build upon the knowledge I acquired and developed during my time at INESC TEC, while contributing to the improvement of future professionals and researchers.
How did your experience at INESC TEC contributed to your professional history?
Working at INESC TEC had a significant impact on my professional path. During my time there, I had the opportunity not only to improve my knowledge of frontier efficiency methods – thanks to the crucial role played by my postdoc advisor, Professor Ana Camanho – but also to engage in various research projects, including collaborations with academia and industry partners. I’d like to emphasise the OpenInnoTrain project, in which INESC TEC is a partner: an enriching experience where I had the opportunity to improve internationally within the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology Europe (Barcelona), broadening my horizons in terms of academia and industry interface.
When you think about INESC TEC, what comes to your mind?
When I think about INESC TEC, I recall the relentless pursuit of excellence in scientific research and technological development. I also think about the inspiring example of how collaboration and knowledge sharing transcend boundaries. One of the best memories is working at an intellectually stimulating environment dedicated to advancing knowledge, which has had a lasting impact on my life.
