The Technical Committee for Social Responsibility (CTRS) at INESC TEC, in partnership with the Social Commission of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Porto (FEUP), rallied the member of our community to support families hit hardest by Storm Kristin, which struck central Portugal in late January.
To address the most pressing needs, the Committee organised two donation campaigns to collect food, hygiene products, and building materials; they targeted the worst-affected residents, helping to meet immediate needs and assist with minor repairs to damaged homes.
The initiative led to two deliveries as part of the Reerguer Leiria programme, carried out on 5 February and 5 March, ensuring that support continued during a period when many needs remained.
Following the donation endeavour that had taken place over the Christmas period and into January, the CTRS also made a delivery at the end of February to two partner organisations that had flagged shortages of food, hygiene products, and items for babies and young children: Refood Braga and Bebés São João (both organisations where INESC TEC volunteers had taken part in the latest volunteering activities).
