In late 2024, the INESC TEC community gathered efforts to support social causes; this time, the Institute chose to support two institutions: the Associação Vida Norte (already chosen in 2023), through those working at the headquarters building – and the Portuguese Red Cross, thanks to our members in Braga.
The Associação Vida Norte supports pregnant women and babies at risk in the districts of Porto and Braga. In 2023, INESC TEC supported the Braga delegation; so, in 2024, the members of our community selected the Porto delegation. We were able to donate 90 products, including diapers, wipes, saline solution, baby food, formula and postpartum items.
“This way, we will be able to keep helping the more than 100 families we support every month”, stated Maria do Carmo Pinto de Abreu, one of the representatives of the association’s Porto delegation, in a message sent to thank our donation.
A few weeks before the donation campaign, nine members of the INESC TEC community decided to support this association during the International Volunteer Day.
Regarding the Portuguese Red Cross, the goods collected in Braga were delivered to the Centro de Alojamento Temporário Dr. Francisco Alvim this month; this institution aims to provide temporary shelter to adults in need, supporting them in the design of a life project and support their socio-professional reintegration.
The Institute was able to donate 70 food and personal hygiene products, as well as several clothing items.
“This type of donation campaigns allows institutions, like the Portuguese Red Cross, to carry out their humanitarian mission, providing essential resources to help people who need it most, efficiently and directly. With these donations, we will be able to meet the basic needs of the beneficiaries of the various services we develop, focusing on addressing social emergency issues, thus preserving human dignity,” said Rosana Barros, Head of Human Resources and Volunteering at the Braga delegation of the Red Cross.
