INESC TEC collaborator wins Student Poster Competition of IEEE Oceans

Bernardo Teixeira, a collaborator of INESC TEC’s Centre for Robotics and Autonomous Systems, won the 1st Prize of the Student Poster Competition of the IEEE Oceans Conference, which was held in October in Seattle (USA).

The work that originated the scientific paper was carried out by Bernardo Teixeira within the scope of his Master thesis in Electrical and Computer Engineering at FEUP with the title “Deep Learning Approaches Assessment for Visual Understanding and Egomotion Estimation”, with the supervision of professors Eduardo Silva and Aníbal Matos.

The paper aims at studying and developing robust methods based on deep learning for the localisation and navigation of autonomous underwater vehicles in confined underwater environments.

The IEEE Oceans conference was organised by the IEEE Ocean Engineering Society and the Marine Technology Society.
