INESC TEC participates in Aquaculture Europe 2021

For the first time, INESC TEC participated in Aquaculture Europe 2021, an internationally acknowledged event in the Aquaculture sector, which took place between October 4 and 6 at the Pestana Casino Hotel, in Funchal (Madeira).

Dedicated to the theme “Oceans of Opportunity”, Aquaculture Europe addressed issues related to nutrition, reproduction, micro and macroalgae, animal welfare, automation, artificial intelligence and marine literacy.

INESC TEC formalised its presence at the event with a stand located in the Portuguese Pavilion, together with the associate Blue BioEconomy Colab, presenting the Institution’s competences in ocean-related matters, with special emphasis on skills and abilities related to aquaculture.

Several participants from different aquaculture areas visited the stand, including the Minister of Maritime Affairs, Ricardo Serrão Santos, and the Secretary-General for the Sea and Fisheries, Teófilo Cunha.

The event favoured an exhibition-like element, with more than 100 stands of manufacturers from the sector, commercial agents, laboratories, research institutions, public and private entities responsible for operations at sea, as well as other economic players with concrete interests in the sector.

Ana Paula Lima, researcher at the Centre for Robotics and Autonomous Systems (CRAS), and Carlos Pinho, Business Developer Manager at TEC4SEA, were the researchers who represented INESC TEC’s team at the event.

The researchers mentioned in this news piece are associated with INESC TEC.
