INESC TEC launched a new initiative earlier this month, aiming to cement the position at the heart of Portugal’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. Entrepreneurship Talks is designed to be a platform for sharing entrepreneurial experiences. In the first session, the spotlight was on Frederico Carpinteiro, CEO of Amparo.
With a strong track record in leading science-based innovation and supporting tech-based companies, INESC TEC is using this initiative to showcase success stories and, session by session, bring the inspiration and knowledge of key entrepreneurial figures into a single space.
Entrepreneurship Talks is an initiative by the Office for Entrepreneurship and Spinoffs, INESC TEC’s latest strategic investment in entrepreneurship. At the kick-off session, around 20 participants gathered to hear the story of Frederico Carpinteiro, founder of Adapttech – a company that applies AI to lower-limb prosthetics, recently acquired by US-based Amparo.
During the talk, moderated by Alípio Torre and Daniel Vasconcelos – members of INESC TEC’s Office for Entrepreneurship and Spinoffs – Frederico Amparo (who founded Adapttech in 2016) emphasised, according to Daniel Vasconcelos, “the importance of a mindset shift for those who seek to pursue an entrepreneurial path,” Frederico Carpinteiro also highlighted “the importance of validating the problem to be solved” and outlined the main challenges he faced in securing funding.
“The first Entrepreneurship Talks session demonstrated the value of creating a space dedicated to sharing science- and technology-based entrepreneurial experiences. Frederico Carpinteiro gave us an inspiring and, above all, honest account of the challenges of entrepreneurship, with a story full of insights and shared lessons that will help current and future entrepreneurs navigate their own paths,” explained Alípio Torre.
Entrepreneurship Talks returns in September, with the spotlight turning to Bernardo Almada Lobo, founder of LTP Labs and former member of INESC TEC’s Board of Directors.
