André Madureira, Group Leader (LIST)

  • Centre at INESC TEC where you worked: Centre for Power and Energy Systems (CPES)

What have you been doing professionally since you left INESC TEC?

I left INESC TEC in February 2021, to join the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), and I’m currently the leader of the group Sustainable Energy Systems (SES), part of the Environmental Research and Innovation (ERIN) department. In this sense, I moved to another workplace (to perform pretty much the same job), but also to another location – I’m now living in this small country in the “heart” of Europe, just a short trip away from Brussels or Paris.

How did your experience at INESC TEC contributed to your new professional history?

I worked at INESC TEC for more than 15 years, so I improved a lot in personal and professional terms, acquiring the technical and individual skills crucial to carry out research on energy systems. Since I moved to LIST, a Research and Technology Organisation (RTO) similar to INESC TEC in so many ways, my duties are close to those I performed before – with added responsibility. Here, I can put into practice everything I’ve learned this far.

When you think about INESC TEC, what comes to your mind?

I think about the best moments I’ve spent at INESC TEC (I’ve worked there for more than 15 years): the projects in which I participated (some of them were real-life “adventure”s), the friends I made, and a special environment that can only be described by those who experienced what I did.
