Federal University of Amazonas, Assistant Teacher I at the Faculty of Information and Communication – Library Science course

  • Years when you started working at INESC TEC and when you left: October 2015 to September 2016
  • Center at INESC TEC where you workedCenter for Enterprise Systems Engineering (CESE)

What have you been doing professionally since you left INESC TEC?

I’ve done a PhD at INESC TEC, following a programme by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) at a Brazilian institution. I had the opportunity to collect data from the Science and Technology Park of the University of Porto – UPTEC. When I left INESC TEC, I returned to Brazil, where I gathered data in different regions of the country while becoming familiar with other innovation environments, such as Tecnopuc (Porto Alegre – Rio Grande do Sul), Itaipu (Foz do Iguaçú – Paraná), Inovaparque (Joinville – Santa Catarina) and INPA (Manaus – Amazonas).

My PhD thesis defense took place in June 2017. From 2017 to 2018, I’ve worked as a teacher and coordinator of the Library Science course at the Community University of the Chapecó Region – UNOCHAPECÓ. I am currently working as an Associate Professor I at the Faculty of Information and Communication (FIC) of the Federal University of Amazonas, where I teach Library Science. In addition, I work as a researcher at the Management Center for Sustainability (NGS) of the University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) and as a researcher/head of the Amazonian Information and Knowledge Management (GICA) at UFAM. I’ve participated in the Organising Committee of the 10th Luso-Brazilian Conference on Open Science (CONFOA), which took place in Manaus.

How did your experience at INESC TEC contribute to your new professional history?

The experience of the doctoral internship at INESC TEC allowed me to have contact with different people and learn more about “collaborative networks”, namely while working with Professor Lucas Soares and his research group. I’ve gradually increased my knowledge during this period, which helped me deal with innovation in different contexts (libraries and documentation centers) and study collaborative networks in Open Science.

When you think about INESC TEC, what comes to your mind?

The collaboration between the CESE colleagues, which was key to the thesis progress, and the time I’ve stayed in Porto. The meetings that were part of the “Café com Pão de Queijo” event and the work breaks for a coffee with my colleagues, where I always learned more about Portugal. In addition, my participation in the organisation of the 17th IFIP Working Conference on VIRTUAL INTERPRISES – PRO-VE 2016.
