Eunice Oliveira, Communications Associate (EPRI Europe)

  • Years when you began working at INESC TEC and when you left2012 – 2021
  • Service at INESC TEC where you worked: Communication Service (SCOM)

What have you been doing professionally since you left INESC TEC?

After leaving INESC TEC, I spent about a year at EirGrid Group, the Irish TSO (company that operates the energy transmission network in Ireland), working as Digital Communications Expert; I was responsible for managing EirGrid’s website and social networks – also providing support to SONI (the Northern Irish TSO, part of the Group), in the same duties. In January 2023, I started working at EPRI Europe as a Communications Associate. EPRI Europe is the European research affiliate of EPRI, a world-renowned non-profit energy research institution. As Communications Associate of EPRI Europe, I am the contact point for the EPRI brand (American-based) in Europe and I oversee the communication of European projects led by EPRI Europe, or featuring their participation in communication, dissemination and exploitation work packages.

How did your experience at INESC TEC contributed to your professional history?

At INESC TEC, I learned everything I know today about science communication. Since I’m working at a research institution very similar to INESC TEC, my nine years at the Institute – where I played several roles within the Communication team – have been quite useful. INESC TEC also allowed me to work on European projects, and I’m currently applying all the know-how I gathered during that time. In addition, and since I’m working in the energy domains, becoming familiarised with this area at INESC TEC – since I worked on the communication component of several energy projects – was quite important.

When you think about INESC TEC, what comes to your mind?

When I think about INESC TEC, I remember all the colleagues I left behind, and some professional achievements (individual and collective, at SCOM). Now that I have experienced other realities, in Europe and the United States, I have no doubt that the science communication at INESC TEC reaches levels of excellence – not falling short from science communication in other countries. Quite the opposite, in fact. And that makes me very proud!
