“Carioca” João Fontoura loves the northern region of Portugal – especially, Porto; in fact, it was so familiar that when he crossed the Atlantic, in 2019, he had no doubts: it was the right place to settle and start a new life. In between comes INESC TEC and FEUP: At the Asprela Campus, João works and studies sustainable energy systems. During the week, you’ll find him at INESC TEC – he works at CPES, currently contributing to two projects: one focused on energy efficiency, digitalisation and energy transition in maritime ports (MAGPIE), and Ecovale, a national initiative dedicated to education, to explore concepts of energy, efficiency and energy poverty. Let’s get to know João better and what he does in INESC TEC’s “multidisciplinary and multicultural environment”?
