INESC TEC part of European network YEAR – Young European Associated Researchers

INESC TEC is the most recent member of YEAR (Young European Associated Researchers), a European network that brings together research and technology centres from all over Europe to support and train early-career researchers.

The mission of this non-profit organisation is to promote specialised training, networking events, international mobility opportunities and representation with European stakeholders, namely the European Commission.

“Joining YEAR represents a strategic and important step in INESC TEC’s commitment to the professional development of researchers during the earlier stages of their careers, towards of a more connected, inclusive and collaborative European research space”, explained João Claro, Chairman of the Board of INESC TEC.

“YEAR is an opportunity for INESC TEC researchers at an early stage to connect with researchers from all over Europe, develop new skills and play an active role in the network’s decisions. We also aim to boost internal collaboration actions and create more opportunities for growth”, highlighted Romão Santos and Carla Gonçalves, INESC TEC researchers and representatives of the Institute in the YEAR network.

By integrating this network, the Institute reinforces the commitment to researchers’ training at the beginning of their scientific career, fostering a work environment where principles like innovation, sustainability and collaboration are vital.

Now, INESC TEC researchers will have access to conferences and workshops with industrial partners, thematic seminars and training actions dedicated to soft skills and science management; support for the design of international mobility experiences; and opportunities to influence public science policies through representation at YEAR.

YEAR welcomed INESC TEC by stating the Institute’s dedication “to innovation and collaboration, meeting YEAR’ mission of empowering early-career researchers throughout Europe”.

By joining this network, INESC TEC reinforces the position in a more cohesive and collaborative European research ecosystem, creating new opportunities for researchers who are starting their careers to grow, learn and leave their mark on the future of science.

The YEAR also welcomes institutions like SINTEF (Norway), AIT (Austria), TNO (Netherlands), VTT (Finland), etc.
