INESC TEC participated in international electric automation event

INESC TEC took part in SPS Expo 2025 – Smart Production Solutions – an event held from 25 to 27 November, in Germany.

One of the central themes of SPS 2025, alongside energy efficiency and new sector regulations, was the growing integration of Artificial Intelligence in industrial processes. A defining feature of the event is the focus not only on individual components but on complete systems, offering visitors integrated and comprehensive automation solutions.

INESC TEC joined the only Portuguese delegation at the event, promoted under the PRR Mobilising Agenda PRODUTECH R3. The participation included a presence in the exhibition area dedicated to digitalisation, through the PRODUTECH stand, with researchers António Galrão Ramos and Pedro Senna. In this space, the team showcased solutions for intelligent pallet mosaic construction, volumetric simulations of containers in lorries, factory layout simulations, and virtual factory commissioning.

SPS is a major international event dedicated to intelligent and digital automation, attracting thousands of participants every year. In the 35th edition, held in Nuremberg, it brought together 1,175 exhibitors across 11 themed halls and welcomed around 56,000 visitors, who had the opportunity to explore innovative projects, meet industry experts, and share spaces dedicated to practical responses to the sector’s biggest challenges. The 2026 edition is already scheduled for 24-26 November.

The researchers mentioned in this news piece are associated with INESC TEC and Polytechnic of Porto – ISEP.
