Alberto Adrego Pinto, INESC TEC researcher and full professor at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto, edited the fourth volume of the Modeling, Dynamics, Optimization and Bioeconomics series, in collaboration with the winner of the 2019 edition of the Wolf Prize in Agriculture, David Zilberman, professor at the University of Berkeley, California (U.S.A.).
With this publication, the editors aim to further advance the series, which started in 2014 with the first volume. “The objective is to present innovative analysis and modelling applications and techniques for complex problems, in areas as diverse as Bioeconomics, Biology, Bioenergy, Industry and Finance, among others”, explained Alberto Adrego Pinto. The researcher also stated that “the project will continue, since the 5th volume of the series is already being prepared”.
Published under the number 365 in the Springer Proceedings in Mathematics and Statistics (PROMS) collection, this volume features a foreword by professors José M. Labeaga and Alberto A. Álvarez-López, from the National Distance Education University (UNED) in Madrid, and brings together a total of 18 chapters with selected contributions from the participants of the joint DGs – JOLATE conference, held in Madrid in May 2018, and the International Consortium on Applied Bioeconmy Research (ICABR), which took place in Berkeley, between May and June 2017.
