During the summer vacation, 32 college students will have the opportunity to carry out research initiation activities on topics like quantum simulation with light fluids, computer vision for biometrics or automatic positioning systems of underwater robots. These activities are promoted by the Institute for Systems and Computers Engineering, Technology and Science (INESC TEC) – which, through the initiative “Verão com Ciência” 2022, funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology, opened a call for scientific initiation grants.
This is an opportunity for students to have in-depth contact with research projects, in advanced laboratories, in order to understand how their subject areas apply to real environments.
These grants cover the power and energy, networked intelligent systems, computer science, and industrial and systems engineering scientific domains, and they could be a starting point for other research activities.
The grants’ activities will take place between August 1 and September 30 and are valid for one month; the stipend is €486.12 euros, and the actions will take place at INESC TEC facilities. All those interested can formalise their application until July 24, by completing the form available on the INESC TEC website. The list of topics covered by the scientific initiation activities, as well as additional information on the grants, are also available on the institution’s website.
