“The Analytics Sandwhich” is the latest book on advanced analytics available on the market. The book – written by Bernardo Almada-Lobo, Pedro Amorim, Luís Guimarães and Teresa Bianchi de Aguiar (the first three INESC TEC researchers) – can now be purchased in bookstores. The work is available exclusively in English; the book launch took place in Porto, but there are more sessions planned – namely in Lisbon, at Nova Business School, on June 4.
A departure from traditional decision-making, based on intuition, and a shift towards the power of advanced analysis and Artificial Intelligence – this is the starting point of the four authors for the book “The Analytics Sandwich”, focusing on the universe of data to redefine business decision-making.
In an increasingly complex and dynamic world, data-driven decision-making is vital. With this book, business leaders are expected to be able to identify high-value analysis projects and align them with the strategic objectives of their companies, thus increasing the effective management of their assets. In this sense, the authors present several success stories in different business contexts.
“The Analytics Sandwich serves as a practical guide for executives and leaders to strategically leverage data, ensuring that every critical decision is informed and improved by analysis. The book is intended not only for top managers and experts, but also for people who are taking their first steps in data analysis”, explained Bernardo Almada-Lobo, a researcher at INESC TEC – where he acted as member of the Board between 2015 and 2021.
The first presentation of the book, by Carlos Moreira da Silva, took place on May 16, at Porto Business School, and brought together more than 300 people.
The authors are all co-founders of LTPlabs, a spin-off of INESC TEC dedicated to advanced data analysis.
