INESC TEC takes energy efficiency to IPO Porto

Once again, INESC TEC took science to IPO Porto. This time, the theme was “energy efficiency” through the EcoVale project – which aims to raise awareness among students and residents of Vila Nova de Famalicão and Barcelos about energy poverty and energy efficiency. The initiative took place in June, in the Paediatrics Department of IPO Porto. 

Several hospitalised children with an interest in science and energy relied on Ariz and Nefi, the mascots of the EcoVale project, to learn how to improve their energy consumption practices and the use of different appliances and equipment. 

INESC TEC researchers Tomás Rocha and João Fontoura raised awareness among the children and teenagers there, and promoted a quiz game; using the mascots, the children were able to test their knowledge and participate in a fun-filled afternoon of conversation and learning. 

This was the second session of the initiative promoted by INESC TEC “Taking Science to Pediatrics at IPO Porto.”
