INESC TEC with a strong presence in the 7th edition of AgroIN

INESC TEC participated in the 7th edition of the AgroIN event, a meeting for the agribusiness sector, organised by IFE by Abilways and by Vida Rural magazine. The event took place on October 1, at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Dental Medicine of the University of Lisbon.

The theme of the 2020 edition was “Eficienciaocultura”, and focused on promoting Efficiency in the Agri-Food and Forestry sectors. Lino Oliveira, researcher at INESC TEC’s Centre for Information Systems and Computer Graphics (CSIG), participated as a keynote speaker. His presentation addressed the theme “Climate smart agriculture: innovative or nothing new?”, and the researcher took the opportunity to present the INFRAVINI project, which aims to develop a tool capable of supporting winegrowers and help them address climate change. This translates into a Thematic Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) for the management of climate change effects in the vineyards. Moreover, this tool will include climatic and agronomic indicators and a platform that monitors the impact of meteorological variability and climate change, thus allowing winegrowers to benefit from the information provided.

With INESC TEC as a RTD partner, the AgroIN meeting aimed to bring together the main leaders and actors in the sector, in order to discuss ideas and strategies, challenges and opportunities, planning, implementation and control actions. “INESC TEC’s participation in these events is very important to engage new customers and partners, increase the Institute’s prestige and consolidate INESC TEC’s position in Agri-Food and Forestry, as well as to present new projects and technologies and promote networking”, said André Sá, head of TEC4AGRO-FOOD, an INESC TEC initiative for the Agri-Food and Forestry fields.

The event targeted agricultural and agro-industrial entrepreneurs, managers of agricultural holdings and agro-industrial units, and producers and investors’ organisations.
