Lisbon hosts the second commemorative session of the 40th anniversary of INESC

On October 8, Lisbon will host the second commemorative session of INESC 40th anniversary initiative, under the motto “40 years of Science and Knowledge: The ability to create new technology-based companies“. This event will take place at the Auditorium II of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (5 p.m.) in a hybrid format: The speakers and a very limited number of invited guests will be present, with most of the participants watching online, via Zoom.

The programme includes Carlos Moedas (Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation) as keynote speaker, as well as Leonel Sousa (INESC Lisboa/IST), in charge of opening the event, and Arlindo Oliveira (INESC/IST), with the presentation “Creating value for four decades”. José Tribolet (INESC) and Prime Minister António Costa (TBA) will close the event.

In the first panel moderated by Isabel Trancoso (INESC-ID/IST), José Alves Marques (LINK /IST), João Nuno Bento (Novabase), Pedro Ramalho Carlos (Shilling Founders Fund) and Luís Alveirinho (Altice) will discuss the theme “The first wave: networks and services”.

The second panel, with Joaquim Sérvulo Rodrigues (Armilar) as moderator, will focus on “The second wave: software and artificial intelligence”; the participants include Vasco Pedro (Unbabel), Ana Teresa Freitas (HeartGenetics), Jaime Jorge (Codacy) and João Paulo Neto (Voice Interaction).

Registration for the event is free, and will be available soon on the official website of the event.

This commemorative cycle will end in Coimbra, on October 23, with the session “40 years of Science and Knowledge: The relationship with the academic world”.
