This is the fourth edition of this initiative, which aims to train Portuguese companies part of the national industrial fabric, while providing support to address the challenges of digital transformation. The Advanced Programme in Industry 4.0, promoted by INESC TEC and INEGI, returns in May, with a journey through emerging technologies in the ongoing industrial revolution.
Globalisation, digitalisation, and sustainability are at the core of the so-called fourth industrial revolution, and they all present challenges to the business ecosystem. In this sense, INESC TEC and INEGI, as Technology and Innovation Centres (CTI), aim to share their experience and knowledge with companies, addressing the various dimensions and problems associated with the current digital transformation, emerging technologies, methodologies and tools, as well as the impact of said approaches on various businesses.
The training programme – which takes place at INEGI and INESC TEC facilities, in Porto – targets managers and middle and senior managers of industrial and tech-based companies, in the fields of operations, production, logistics, engineering, technology and innovation; as well as managers, engineers, entrepreneurs and consultants who aspire to lead the implementation of industry 4.0.
Américo Azevedo, coordinator of INESC TEC TEC4Industry, stated that “INESC TEC and INEGI, as Technological Interface Centres, are coordinating efforts to provide a unique learning experience within the scope of emerging technologies in the context of industry 4.0, while perceiving their impact and determining maturities and roadmaps.
“The growing need for knowledge in the technological areas and the excellent feedback from participants in previous editions – which highlight the cross-cutting, comprehensive and balanced programme in terms of content; the knowledgeable and experienced lecturers; technical visits and sharing of experiences – are a great incentive to this initiative,” said Ana Maria Sousa, head of INEGI’s Advanced Training area.
With a duration of 68 hours and a team of more than 20 experts, the training actions will include nine modules focused on themes identified as crucial to the development of a strategic vision, while supporting decision-making and implementation processes.
This initiative will also explore the characteristics, applications and challenges of technologies that are at the basis of the fourth industrial revolution, featuring visits and workshops at companies identified as good examples. It’s also important to emphasise the possibility of exchanging experiences and learning among peers throughout all the training actions.
