INESC TEC participated in the AED Days 2020

INESC TEC participated in the AED Days 2020, held between October 6 and 8. The seventh edition of the event took place online, and brought together a wide range of experts to discuss the current scenario and the future challenges of the aeronautics, space and defence sectors. The programme included conferences, workshops, B2B meetings, a Virtual Exhibition Forum and networking sessions.

The first day of the AED Days 2020, with the Minister of State, Economy and Digital Transition Pedro Siza Vieira in charge of the opening ceremony, brought together speakers such as João Pedro Taborda (Embraer), Alexandre Solis (OGMA), Cesar Sanchez Lopez (Airbus), Marc Cathelineau (Thales), Robert Edwards (Bell), Rogério Alves (Municipality of Ponte de Sor), Alain Alexis (European Commission, DG-DEFIS), Daniel Moczydlower (Embraer X), Gretchen Dahlberg (Northrop Grumman), Ibrahim Yimer (NRC), José Rui Marcelino (Almadesign), Omer Bar-Yohai (Eviation Aircraft), Ricardo Conde (Portugal Space) and Alberto Coelho (DGRDN).

During the second day of the event, António Henrique Almeida, TEC4Industry Business Development Manager, participated in the panel “Industry 4.0: How it’s transforming the Aeronautics, Space and Defense industries”, with fellow panel members André Carvalho (ISQ), António Cunha (COLAB DTX) and Luís Pina (INEGI); the panel was moderated by Gustavo Dias (Stratosphere). The discussion focused on the need to develop maturity assessment projects and the application of emerging technologies that enable the return on. Some projects and services carried out within the scope of this domain were also presented.

Finally, and during the last day of the AED Days 2020, Eduardo Silva, TEC4SEA coordinator at INESC TEC, moderated the panel “How to build strong maritime surveillance ecosystems: the challenges of the continental platform extension and the Atlantic”, composed of André Oliveira (CEiiA), Leendert Bal (EMSA), Sacha Bailly (Airbus), Sandra Silva (DG – Maritime Policy) and William von Kader (Maxar).

During the three days of the event, INESC TEC was also represented at the Virtual Exhibition Forum. The stand featured the GRIFO-X, MARECOM and FASTEN projects.

This edition of AED Days reached a record number of more than 760 participants, featuring 24 nationalities and more than 300 companies.
