INESC TEC researcher Leonel Morgado received an award at an international conference dedicated to immersive learning for showing how AI can help those who carry out scientific research activities.
Leonel Morgado presented a tutorial that demonstrates how to create a customised version of ChatGPT dedicated to thematic analysis of qualitative data. The demonstration took place at the Immersive Learning Research Network (iLRN), which took place in Glasgow.
“Our focus was to demonstrate how other researchers and industry professionals can create their own customised tools to improve the efficiency and quality of content analysis in research and practice contexts”, explained the researcher.
The tutorial “Authoring a Personal GPT for Your Research and Practice: How We Created the QUAL-E Immersive Learning Thematic Analysis Helper” received an award during one of the flagship events in the area. Indexed in the CORE ranking – which evaluates the main conferences dedicated to computing – the iLRN conference is a multidisciplinary event that brings together international experts in the field of immersive learning.
The 10th conference of the event explored the use of technologies like augmented and virtual reality – and how they can improve education within a framework of practices supported by research work.
Leonel Morgado presented the tutorial with researcher Dennis Beck, from the University of Arkansas (United States of America).
