INESC P&D Brasil in partnership for new oil extraction method

Petrobrás S.A., the Higher Education Institute of Santa Cecilia (Unisanta) and INESC P&D Brasil are participating on a research on the influence of the gas injection for oil wells operating by the gas lift method, using an experimental facility. The project was approved on August 2019.

The research focuses on the development of experimental structures that will allow the implementation, improvement and testing of techniques applied to the oil extraction via gas lift. The work should have an impact on the oil extraction model of the Brazilian Pre-salt reservoirs, besides being able to be applied in similar situations.

The project, which will last for 36 months, will be managed by the Leopoldo Américo Miguez de Mello Research Centre (CENPES / Petrobrás).

INESC P&D Brasil is a non-governmental Scientific and Technological Institution (ICT), established as a private non-profit association that aims, along with Brazilian public universities and INESC TEC, at coordinating a cooperation network in research, development and technology transfer in Brazil.
