INESC TEC invested almost 5,000 hours in HR training in the first half of the year

INESC TEC provided around 5,000 hours of professional training in the first six months of 2026, involving more than 600 professionals from both the scientific community and administrative and management areas.

The training covered a wide range of areas, including Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, languages, leadership and team management, and occupational health and safety – reflecting the institution’s commitment to the continuous development of all teams, from research centres to R&D support services.

“In a context of fast scientific and technological change, providing learning and development opportunities is also a way of attracting and valuing talent. We want people to find at INESC TEC an environment where they can develop their skills, continue learning and build their professional careers,” explained Susana Rodrigues, Head of Human Resources.

On a scale of 1 to 5, participants rated the training sessions with an average quality score of 4.49, highlighting the value recognised by those who took part.

INESC TEC invested more than €48K in said training activities, showing the Institute’s commitment to the continuous learning of the community.

“Training is an investment in the development of our people and in the institution’s future capacity. In addition to investing in external training, we’re also strengthening internal training by valuing and sharing the knowledge and experience already present at INESC TEC. This approach allows us to offer learning opportunities that are more closely aligned with our people’s needs and with the institution’s reality, while promoting skills development and the recognition of internal talent,” she added.

A range of training sessions is already planned for the second half of the year, covering areas such as team management, language learning, and occupational health and safety. These include courses for Portuguese staff who feel the need to improve their English, as well as for international staff who wish to learn Portuguese. Training in inclusive communication is also planned, with all sessions delivered in partnership with accredited organisations.
