INESC TEC participated in AgroIN – Annual Agribusiness Congress 2023

INESC TEC participated in the AgroIN – Annual Agribusiness Congress 2023, where researcher Filipe Neves dos Santos gave a presentation on “Mechanisation and Robotics”, within the scope of the panel “Technological Challenges”. The event took place on April 19, at the University of Lisbon.

In his presentation, Filipe Neves dos Santos, coordinator of the TEC4AGRO-FOOD initiative (INESC TEC infrastructure dedicated to the Agro-Food and Forestry sectors) and researcher at the Centre for Robotics in Industry and Intelligent Systems (CRIIS), explored questions related to the fast advancement of robotic technologies and how this progress can play a key role in the market. Other topics addressed at the event were bioengineering, soil conservation practices and supply chains. INESC TEC, as in previous editions, was the “R&D Partner” of this event.

“AgroIN addressed crucial topics, like agrovoltaics and new methods of soil preservation, to which INESC TEC will be able to contribute with R&D roadmaps that are adequately adapted to these new approaches, namely in the topics of Robotics, Intelligent Energy Networks, Artificial Intelligence and IoT applied to precision agriculture”, said Filipe Santos.

AgroIn, this year dedicated to the theme “Green Trends: which direction are we heading?”, aims to share news and ideas among professionals in this sector, providing information on techniques and tools that allow adopting practices and management models, meeting market demands, protecting productivity and ensuring the sustainability of agro-systems.

According to André Sá, Business Developer of the TEC4AGRO-FOOD initiative, “INESC TEC participation had a very positive impact”, stating that AgroIN is “the main event on agro-food taking place at Portuguese venues, showcasing the state-of-the-art of the sector and promoting networking”. That is why INESC TEC, through TEC4AGRO-FOOD, has been associated with the event for quite some time now”.

The event closed with the Vida Rural 2023 Awards, an acknowledgement granted annually to people, companies, projects, and investment endeavours that stand out in Portuguese agriculture and agrobusiness.

Organised by the Vida Rural magazine (ABILWAYS PORTUGAL), the 10th edition of AgroIN welcomed close to 300 participants, including agricultural and agro-industrial entrepreneurs, farms and agro-industrial units’ managers, producers and investors.

The researcher mentioned in this news piece is associated with INESC TEC.
