“Plethora of patents”, technology, meetings: INESC TEC in France to boost “internationalisation”

INESC TEC participated in Techinnov, a B2B event dedicated to Innovation that serves as a platform for contact with companies in search of innovative solutions. After a successful participation last year, this time the Institute strengthened its presence.

INESC TEC’s technologies in the areas of energy, sea, instrumentation, and health were highlighted at Techinnov, in Paris – during an event that promoted networking and meetings with French innovation players. This event – a platform for potential partnerships – was also important to showcase INESC TEC and sell patents, while providing services as an Institute with the ability to develop R&D&I projects to meet the needs of companies.

In an “intense” event, with meetings throughout the day, INESC TEC’s participation was also marked by a presentation by Augustin Olivier, Business Developer.

“We participated in 2023, but without a stand. The scope and quality of the contacts made at the time were the inspiration to adopt a more physically marked presence, and to show the plethora of patents at INESC TEC”, said Augustin Olivier.

The outcome of the participation in this event, dedicated to innovation and focusing on B2B meetings, was quite “positive”. “We were able to establish contacts with French and international companies, with commercial potential and that contribute to establish better valuation strategies”, said Marta Vranas, from INESC TEC’s Technology Licensing Office.

Augustin Olivier also mentioned that “our participation is part of the internationalisation of INESC TEC, with the dissemination and search for R&D contracts, focusing on the French market. This strategy was driven by the renewal of our Agrément CIR certification, granted by the French scientific authorities”.

The Business Developer was also responsible for a presentation dedicated to the pioneering implementation of a vertical Large Language Model (LLM) at the Portuguese Institute of Oncology. Combined with the presence of the stand and continuous meetings, this presentation allowed, according to Marta Vranas, “to increase the visibility of the institution”.

In the 2024 edition of Techinnov, 8000 business meetings were held, welcoming 190 exhibitors, 320 representatives of start-ups and 200 representatives of large groups, in search of innovative solutions. In the 30 conferences and pitches, the discussions focused on key themes for innovation: finance, developing sectors and industry.
