Robotics, sensors, computer vision, bias in language models: what they learned during the Summer Internships

Months spent with hands-on activities, exploring and discovering how the future is being shaped. A first contact with scientific research and an awakening to life in the laboratory. More than 120 young people chose to spend several weeks of their summer at INESC TEC. With 80 research topics to choose from, they addressed real-world challenges waiting to be solved.

As an introduction to what it means to be a researcher, the 2025 edition took place between July and September. INESC TEC received 257 applications, from which 121 students were selected for the latest edition of the INESC TEC Summer Internships.

A quarter of the interns – who deepened their knowledge in areas like bioengineering, telecommunications, computer science and engineering, Artificial Intelligence, robotics, energy systems and systems management – sought to have their internships recognised as curricular placements, a requirement for completing their first degrees.

Igor, Pedro, Telma, Tiago, Kathia and Dalton took part in the INESC TEC Summer Internships and took home “great experiences”. Shall we hear more about them?
