What is the connection between TEYME and INESC TEC?

The partnership with INESC started in 2019, when TEYME was proposed to collaborate in the SCORPION project. At that time, several meetings took place between the technical board of the project and the board members in TEYME. Luckily, the roadmap of TEYME fitted Scorpion’s project goals. Moreover, we’re able to add value to the project with our technical team and experience in novel spraying solutions, as part of a solid worldwide market network for crop protection equipment.

What are the main results of this collaboration?

Currently, we just started the second year of Scorpion’s three-year plan; and some results of the R&D work developed during the first year are ready to be marketable, thus providing farmers new efficient tools for smart spraying. The main goal of the three-year project is a fully electric and autonomous robotic platform for spraying operations connected to Farming Management Systems. Moreover, other cost-effective technologies like PWM nozzles for variable rate spraying operations, a crop/disease perception system for nozzle spot-specific target management or low-energy consumption electrical fans and pumps will upgrade current tools for spraying operations, reducing the use of chemicals and water, and CO₂ emissions.

How do you rate your experience with INESC TEC?

From the first meeting in 2019 to the current collaborative work in SCORPION, the TEYME team felt supported by INESC TEC’s team during all the challenges associated with the project. There is no doubt that the INESC TEC team is absolutely committed to provide solutions to the agricultural sector and collaborate with SME companies, like TEYME, in the sector.

What do you value most in this collaboration?

The collaboration with INESC TEC within the scope of the SCORPION project is a big opportunity for TEYME to take advantage of knowledge acquisition, regarding the work and research done throughout the project, but also a chance to work side by side with European reference partners involved in tech research.

What can we expect from TEYME in the upcoming years?

TEYME and INESC TEC can be complementary partners, taking advantage of each other’s strengths. The high-level knowledge in robotics and IoT and the research competencies of INESC TEC are totally precious for TEYME. INESC TEC can achieve a closer position to end tech users thanks to TEYME’s background in farming services and its worldwide market network.
