INESC TEC Honoured as Honorary Member of AEP

The Portuguese Business Association (AEP) awarded INESC TEC the title of Honorary Member. “This acknowledgement recognises the Institute’s contribution to the national business ecosystem and to Portugal’s economic and social development,” stated José Manuel Fernandes, Chairman of the AEP Board.

According to João Claro, Chairman of INESC TEC’s Board of Directors, “receiving this recognition from an institution with AEP’s prestige and history holds great significance. It is a tribute to the work we do, based on knowledge, innovation, and collaboration, and to the way we seek to create value for society through science and technology.”

AEP’s mission is to “advocate for the interests of businesses and provide services that boost their competitiveness.” Located in Porto and established in 1849, it is the largest business association in Portugal.

João Claro also highlighted the symbolism of this recognition, which took place so close to the Institute’s 40th anniversary, celebrated on May 6.

The award ceremony, held on May 8, also included tributes to Francisco Pinto Balsemão and Elisa Ferreira.
