Strategic Meeting explored the future of INESC TEC until 2030

This year’s edition of INESC TEC’s Strategic Meeting took place on November 4, under the motto “Building our future together”; the event focused on discussing the redefinition of INESC TEC’s scope, vision, mission and values for the future.

The contributions provided during the event will constitute the general foundations for the Strategic Plan scheduled for next year, guiding INESC TEC’s activity until 2030. The Strategic Meeting was one of the first steps towards said process, foreseeing future opportunities for the community to discuss several themes of said Plan.

In order to ensure the participation of all members of our community, the Strategic Meeting hosted several technological innovations. Though an interactive platform, it was possible to collect the audience’s contributions, during a discussion led by José Manuel Mendonça, Chairman of the Board, and João Claro, Vice-Chairman and CEO.

João Claro provided a quite positive assessment of the event: “this participatory meeting, focusing on such an important strategic topic, was crucial to institution. Through the digital dynamics and debates that followed, we were able to collectively deepen our shared understanding of these basic principles, with very important contributions to further reflection and even a broader discussion about a document that will be published soon”.

What has happened since last year’s Meeting?

The afternoon began with the presentation of the results of a survey completed by the participants of 2021’s Strategic Meeting, by Rui Oliveira, member of INESC TEC’s Board of Directors; this moment was important to present the statistics that translate the motivation and consequent participation of employees in this type of initiative.

This year’s event, the sixth edition of the Meeting, also featured a summary of the work carried out since 2021. During a round-table that brought together stakeholders to discuss the progress in terms of last year’s presentation, in their respective areas, Rui Oliveira (representing Clara Gouveia), Joana Coelho (head of the Communication Service and the Technical Committee for Social Responsibility, representing Miguel Melo) and Daniel Vasconcelos (head of the Technology Licensing Office) explored the themes of Teleworking, Social Responsibility and Work without Borders.

Work also means socialising

This year’s Strategic Meeting, which took place exclusively in person, at Hotel Vila Galé, welcomed close to 200 people; in addition to the debates and work discussions, the participants were able to enjoy a moment of leisure, provided by the Orquestra na Academia e na Cidade – which, led by Maestro Ferreira Lobo, provided a preview of the “Concerto dos Investigadores”, held on November 9 at FEUP’s Auditorium.
