INESC TEC researcher Ana Simões received the Best Service to the IAMOT Community award at the 2026 edition of the IAMOT Conference – International Association for the Management of Technology, held in Cairo, Egypt.
The award recognises Ana Simões’s sustained contribution to strengthening this international community. In her words, the work goes “beyond the recognition of visible results” and translates into the time invested, the conversations, the ideas shared and the collective effort to help IAMOT grow.
It’s worth mentioning that the researcher served as co-chair of the conference in 2024, when IAMOT was held in Portugal for the first time and brought together, in Porto, 230 participants from almost every continent (with the exception of Oceania), representing more than 30 different nationalities. Reflecting on the 2026 edition, Ana Simões described the spirit of the community as “truly inspiring”.
“This recognition is not only individual; it reflects the contribution of the many people with whom I have had the privilege of working and learning over time. The conference provided an opportunity to reinforce relationships, exchange perspectives and address future challenges, reinforcing the importance of continuing to build a collaborative community with global impact. I leave this experience even more motivated to embrace new challenges and continue this shared journey, contributing to the evolution and relevance of IAMOT in the years ahead,” said Ana Simões.
INESC TEC’s presence at the conference extended beyond this award: Ana Simões took part as co-organiser of the PhD Colloquium, chaired a session and presented a paper. INESC TEC researcher Henrique Silva led the workshop GenAI as (your very own) PhD Assistant as part of the PhD Colloquium and presented a scientific paper.
“INESC TEC has been an important pillar in providing an environment that promotes collaboration, knowledge sharing and impact, which is naturally reflected in the way we participate in conferences such as this one. Being in Cairo also represented an opportunity to strengthen international networks, give visibility to the work being developed in Portugal and consolidate INESC TEC’s position as an active and influential partner in the fields of technology and innovation management,” concluded Ana Simões.
