INESC TEC presents success stories of Intellectual Property use at EU Industry Week 2021

On March 1, Daniel Vasconcelos, head of INESC TEC’s Technology Licensing Office (SAL), participated as a guest speaker in the event The European Green Deal: are we ready? Main IP challenges for the Green Deal. At a time when Portugal chairs the EU Council, Daniel Vasconcelos represented Europe, and presented how Intellectual Property can support cleantech companies internationalisation and improve their competitiveness in the international market – through two national success stories. This internationally acknowledged and high-impact event took place within the scope of the European IP Helpdesk activities – with Daniel Vasconcelos as ambassador in Portugal.

At the event, the European representative presented the Advanced Cyclone Systems, a start-up associated with UP-FEUP, in close liaison with INESC TEC, and a success story in the field of cleantech (already present in 37 countries). Daniel Vasconcelos also presented the ePredator technology – developed by INESC TEC’s Centre for Power and Energy Systems (CPES) and Águas do Tejo Atlântico, within the scope of the European project Integrid. In addition, the presence of Daniel Vasconcelos at the event emphasises “the international recognition of INESC TEC as an institution that plays a key role in the use of Intellectual Property in the internationalisation of SMEs, as well as in several European Commission initiatives, such as the European IP Helpdesk”.

In addition, the head of SAL mentioned that “it is absolutely crucial to show how Intellectual Property leads to highly qualified jobs and brings value to companies. These events make it possible to disseminate the free support programmes that currently exist, not only at European level, but also in Latin America, Southeast Asia, India, China and Japan”.
