INESC TEC researcher publishes book on robotic process automation

Henrique São Mamede, researcher at the Centre for Information Systems and Computer Graphics (CSIG) and assistant professor in the Department of Science and Technology at Universidade Aberta, is the author of the book “Automatização de Processos com RPA”, recently published by FCA.

The work in question focuses on robotic process automation (RPA), more specifically on RPA tools, through which it is possible to define a set or sequence of instructions to be executed by software robots. The book aims to present concepts and raise awareness of the importance of said tools, and how organisations can adopt them, also presenting their risks, barriers, benefits and advantages.

The author also reflects on the growing digital transformation in organisations, as well as on the role that process automation has been playing in different businesses, in order to increase their productivity, competitiveness and resilience, reduce costs and improve the quality of services provided.

As Henrique São Mamede mentions in his book, the tools mentioned above are capable of replicating various human-computer interactions, performing numerous tasks without errors, with high volumes and at significant speed.

The preface to the book is by José Tribolet, founder of INESC, which led to the establishment of INESC TEC, and also one of its current associates.

The INESC TEC researcher mentioned in this news piece is associated with UP-FEUP.
