INESC TEC researchers awarded the Huawei Merit grant

Paula Alexandra Graça and Rita Peixoto, researchers at INESC TEC, were acknowledged by the University Grant Programme of Huawei Portugal, which aims to highlight the academic merit and path of university students in the fields of Science and Engineering. The Programme started this year with the awarding of merit grants to 50 young people studying in Portugal.

The grant will help Paula Graça to further advance her research

Paula Graça is a researcher at INESC TEC, currently at the initial phase of PhD. Her research focuses on the study of reconfigurable and adaptive acoustic systems for underwater location; the grant will support the researcher’s activities, allowing her to participate in conferences, summer schools and professional endeavours in Portugal and abroad, thus advancing her research. “This grant will allow me to set more ambitious goals for my PhD and to help me keep investing in my future“, explained Paula, also stating that she is “very happy and proud to be one of the winners of the Huawei Grants. It’s good to see that people recognise my professional and personal path“, said the researcher at INESC TEC’s Centre for Robotics and Autonomous Systems (CRAS).

Investing in further training is one of Rita Peixoto’s priorities

Rita Peixoto is a newcomer at INESC TEC and she reconciles her research in the EPISA project with the Master’s Degree in Informatics and Computer Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto. Her research involves the implementation of log creation features, entities and events that support the management of archival information, using Linked Data technologies.

According to Rita Peixoto, receiving the grant was a pleasant surprise that made her very excited about the future. “It represents a personal investment opportunity that allows me to explore new prospects and embrace new challenges, she said. These challenges include a semester abroad and obtaining language qualifications, further enriching her academic career.
