INESC TEC’s “Tell me stories” platform included as new feature on Arquivo.pt

“Tell me stories”, a Portuguese platform dedicated to aggregate news and winner of the Arquivo.pt award 2018, was recently included on Arquivo.pt, a public research resource that allows searching and accessing webpages archived since 1996, through a new feature.

“Narrative” is the name of the new tool that allows creating automatic narratives about a specific theme – thanks to the collaboration between “Tell me stories” and Arquivo.pt. This feature, part of Arquivo.pt since September 2021, analyses the news on 24 websites archived throughout time, presenting the user a chronology of news related to a specific theme.

This project enabled the creation of a web technology that helps users creating a narrative based on any subject by using news available on Arquivo.pt. This type of narrative can be useful to many users, namely researchers, journalists, students or politicians.

The “Tell me stories” platform was developed at INESC TEC’s Artificial Intelligence and Decision Support Laboratory (LIAAD), namely by Ricardo Campos, researcher and lecturer at the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar; Alípio Jorge, coordinator and lecturer at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto; Arian Pasquali and Vitor Mangaravite, former researchers; and Adam Jatwot, lecturer at the University of Innsbruck.

The researchers mentioned in this news piece are associated with INESC TEC, IPP and UP-FCUP.
