Open Day CTM challenged INESC TEC researchers

The Open Day CTM, an annual initiative promoted by the Centre for Telecommunications and Multimedia (CTM), took place on March 31 and April 1; the event focused on presenting the diversity and quality of the technical and scientific work developed by CTM and its members.

Under the motto “Challenge Yourself. Learn from Experts.”, this year’s Open Day was dedicated to students, by giving them an opportunity to learn more about the ongoing projects and cutting-edge research at CTM. Close to 50 participants joined the event, most from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto.

Over two days, students and researchers were able to attend presentations by four keynote speakers, directly related to the research areas of the CTM (Optical and Electronic Technologies, Wireless Networks, Multimedia and Communications Technologies, and Information Processing and Pattern Recognition), and to participate in five workshops, which allowed a more hands-on experience of the projects under discussion.

The CTM coordinators believe that this event is very important to reinforce the Centre’s status among the students. “The way we organise this initiative has been crucial to welcome young researchers to CTM, either through summer or curricular internships, development of master’s and PhD theses, or even as members of our project’s teams,” said Rui Campos, one of the CTM coordinators.
