The future of edge intelligence communications under debate at Open Day CTM

On May 4, INESC TEC’s Centre for Telecommunications and Multimedia (CTM) organised another Open Day, under the theme “Towards 6G enabled by Edge Intelligence”.

The ninth edition of this annual event took place entirely online, and aimed to present the research activities carried out by CTM to an audience of more than 70 participants – which included industry experts, researchers, teachers and students.

The event combined internal and external presentations, which allowed CTM to display some of its lines of research associated with 6G and Edge Intelligence, and to explore the work developed by international groups.

António Hurtado (University of Strathclyde), André Lourenço (CardioID Technologies), Mehdi Bennis (University of Oulu) and John Soldatos (Intrasoft International) were the invited speakers, who contributed to the event with their international outlook on the theme, thus complementing the presentation of CTM’s vision on the different aspects of the subject, by Teresa Andrade, Vítor Tavares, Ana F. Sequeira and Eduardo N. Almeida, CTM researchers.

The event also included a panel discussion with all stakeholders after the presentations, moderated by Manuel Ricardo, member of INESC TEC’s Board of Directors and coordinator of the Networked Intelligent Systems cluster, in which CTM is included.

The panel members discussed different points of view and ideas that should help CTM in the strategic structuring of the Centre’s lines of research.

The streaming of the event is available on Youtube.

The INESC TEC researchers mentioned in this news piece are associated with IPP-ISEP, UP-FEUP and INESC TEC.
