«CTM Award for Best Master Thesis» awarded to Baltasar Aroso

“Using Machine Learning to Improve Performance of Flying Networks” was the title of the Master thesis in Electrical and Computers Engineering, developed at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), which granted Baltasar Aroso the distinction of «CTM’s Best Master Thesis of 2019». The work was supervised by Rui Campos and Eduardo Almeida, researchers of INESC TEC’s Centre for Telecommunications and Multimedia (CTM).

The winner of the first edition of the CTM’s award was announced on 2 August. The initiative aims at distinguishing high merit works received at CTM and encouraging young Portuguese researchers to disclose their works.

The award consists of the delivery a certificate, the association of the award winner to CTM for one year and the participation in an international conference to be selected at a later time.

CTM receives a wide range of Master’s theses on an annual basis, in scientific areas that include, but are not limited to Optical and Electronic Technologies, Wireless Networks, Multimedia and Communication Technologies, Computer Vision and Machine Learning.

The theses received by CTM that fulfil the requirements are automatically eligible for the Best Thesis Award and the papers are evaluated by members of CTM’s Scientific Council to be appointed later on.
