Research made in INESC TEC won Robotics award

The research “Programming Robots by Demonstration using Augmented Reality”, by Inês de Oliveira Soares, won the Award for Best National Master’s Thesis in Robotics, awarded by the Portuguese Society of Robotics (SPR).

With her work, the researcher presents the development of a prototype of a human-machine interaction system, which can help an industrial operator without any experience or knowledge in programming to configure a collaborative industrial robot.

Completed in 2021, this work was developed at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), within the scope of the author’s collaboration with INESC TEC’s Centre for Robotics in Industry and Intelligent Systems (CRIIS), with the Industry and Innovation (iiLab) as host institution, Marcelo Petry as supervisor and António Paulo Moreira as co-supervisor.

Each year, SPR acknowledges several initiatives developed in the field of robotics. This year, the awards were announced in person at the ICARSC conference (IEEE International Conference on Autonomous Robot Systems and Competitions), on April 29, in Santa Maria da Feira.

The INESC TEC researchers mentioned in this news piece are associated with INESC TEC and UP-FEUP.
